Silk characteristics

Silk garments keep warmth when needed and cools down very fast. This natural material doesn’t need to be washed as often as other trendy materials.
In order to take good care of silk it is often enough to freshen the clothes up. You may as well steam the garment and at the same time kill off bacteria. Try to keep silk away from alcohol-based products: perfume and hairspray. Try not to hang the clothes directly in the sunlight, because the colors can change and turn yellow. If something happens and you get a stain do not rub it away with water, but wash the garment.

How to wash silk?

If the garment label says “Dry Clean Only” it definitely means that you had better take it to a professional cleaning service. If you have a simple garment, you can just hand wash it with enzyme-free detergent. The more modern the washing machine the gentler it will be. Always set the silk program while washing silk garments.
You should always wash garments of different colors separately and use a laundry bag.
If you have to wash the garments by hand, be careful and try not to rub on stains. Silk is like your hair, so you should treat it carefully.

How to iron silk?

In any case always have a cotton towel between the silk and the iron. Iron preferably on the inside of the garment. But if you iron directly on the silk, use low heat as recommended in the care label.
